Separate the collection from the exhibition
Paris Musées describes free access to city-museum permanent collections while identifying paid exceptions and temporary exhibitions separately. On your chosen museum’s page, check which part you want to see. A temporary show on a poster is not the same as the free collection. Check bookings and opening separately; free does not guarantee entry.
One outdoor stop, one short indoor visit
Try this outline: a short walk, a food break, then one section of your chosen collection. It is not a timed tour or an all-ages promise; it is a plan with a piece you can remove if someone tires. Our family-event guide starts with interests and language. If rain arrives, move the outdoor part elsewhere.

Count more than admission
Include travel, food and small purchases in the day’s budget. A walk through a Christmas market and paid attractions are different things. For the hotel, consider room capacity and space to rest. Crossing the city for a free stop can still make the day demanding. Leaving early does not make it a failed visit.
